Delaware & Lehigh - 2017 Bike for the Bridge Features a New Route!
Share

Bike for the Bridge is back for a fourth year and features a new route on May 21! Cyclists will choose from two distance options and bike from Lehighton to Northampton. For the past three years, the D&L has partnered with Pocono Biking to raise money for the Carbon County Pedestrian Bridge.

On April 5, 2017, the D&L broke ground on the bridge, marking a significant milestone in the 25 year project and an important step toward connecting all 165 miles of the D&L Trail.

This year, the D&L is excited to partner with Pocono Biking again and take a new Bike for the Bridge route in celebration of the start of construction on the Carbon County Pedestrian Bridge. All proceeds from the event will benefit the completion of the D&L Trail. There are many projects at different stages that are currently underway along the trail and Bike for the Bridge participants will be helping to defray these costs.

Participants can choose from a 21 or 29 mile ride and can bring their own bike or rent one from Pocono Biking. The price is $39 per person if you register by May 11th, after that the price increases to $44 per person. Don’t have a bike? You can rent one from Pocono Biking for an additional fee of $10. Price includes shuttle ride, gift, and post-ride celebration with raffle prizes in Northampton. Cyclists will check in and start from Northampton Canal Park, be shuttled north to Lehighton and either bike north on the D&L Trail – Weissport Spur for  an additional 8 miles or immediately head south from Lehighton and ride the D&L Trail back to Northampton. Check out the event website.
