As a State designated Heritage Park, the Corridor will submit grant applications to PA DCNR on behalf of its partners. Preference will be given to projects based on identification within the Management Action Plan and Interpretive and Educational Plan for the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. Year 2007 project preferences are listed below:
- Improvements to the Delaware & Lehigh Trail: Wilkes-Barre to Bristol. A copy of the Corridor's Trail Workbook is available for more details and specific recommendations.
- Directional and Interpretive signage projects that apply to the Corridor's graphics standards, "Visually Speaking" environmental manual. A copy of the "Visually Speaking" is available for more details and recommendations (i.e. wayside exhibits, site and theme brochures, park entrance signs).
- Development and enhancement of way-finding, interpretive themes and visitor readiness utilizing the internet
- Projects that further development or enhance the success of "Landings" or Corridor Visitor Centers, heritage attractions, tourism infrastructure and visitor readiness.
- Projects assisting development of regional or theme related heritage tourism through new products (exhibits, tours, etc.), collaborative marketing and improvement to visitor services.
- Conservation projects focusing on key Corridor landscapes and sustainable development.
Selection Criteria:
- Falls within the Corridor's Management Action Plan or Interpretive and Educational Plan
- For the greater good of the Corridor
- Project or study is prepared to begin and finish in a timely manner
- Enthusiastic match available
- Falls within the Corridor's project preference list
- Project/study falls within passageway or is a key Corridor story
- Applies to Corridor's standards
NOTE: Additional consideration will be given to those applicants that can document sources of matching funds and partnerships within the Corridor.
