Trail Section: Jim Thorpe (East) – Weissport

Status: Obstruction within trail section, see description

The D&L Trail will be closed at MM 102.42 and MM 102.93 from February 5th 2024 until Spring 2024 while two Canal Overflows are reconstructed. 

This trail section is under active construction and is closed for PUBLIC SAFETY. Please respect the construction crews repairing the trail.  

Trail users should turn around and NOT attempt to pass.   

 This rehabilitation project will reconstruct the two dips in the D&L Trail for improved safety and accessibility. Funding for this project came from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).

This section of D&L Trail follows the Lehigh Canal towpath from the trailhead in Weissport north to downtown Jim Thorpe. The trail offers views of the river, the trout-filled canal, lock and building remnants, and forested mountain slopes.
