The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor and National Canal Museum is looking for educators who would like to work with elementary age children in an outdoor setting for a day of living history. During the month of October we will host our annual “Tales of the Towpath” student field trips at the Freemansburg Canal Education Center in Freemansburg, Northampton County for Bethlehem Area School District’s 4th graders. 

Educators staff four lesson sites where aspects of everyday life along the 19th-century Lehigh Canal are interpreted through hands-on activities. Students are on site Monday through Friday from October 3 through October 21, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; educator hours are from 8:30a.m.- 2 p.m. Educators can elect to work all five days a week or a predetermined schedule of at least two days per week. Educators must be comfortable speaking to diverse groups of students, and prior teaching experience is helpful but not required. All educators must undergo Pennsylvania Child Abuse clearances before the beginning of field trips. 

The pay for this position is $10 an hour. 

We will have 2 paid training sessions before the field trips begin. You will be provided with all supplies and information as well as a loose script. Period costumes are provided.
