On April 16th the D&L kicked off the first of this year’s Trail Tender Seven Saturdays events at Hugh Moore Park. The cleanup was organized in partnership with the Children’s Home of Easton, and Easton and West Easton.

Ninety-nine volunteers, some experienced Trail Tenders and many brand new faces, spruced up the area along Lehigh Drive, where much litter and refuse had collected, including tires and the hull of a boat. Shortly after the cleanup, Easton, West Easton and Wilson Borough worked together to rebuild a badly deteriorated section of Lehigh Drive.

The Trail Tenders’ Seven Saturdays continue through October. Upcoming events include flower planting, stone wall repair and tire cleanup on June 18 at the Weissport Trailhead. On July 16 the Trail Tenders will remove brush around Lock 2 in Jim Thorpe. For volunteer opportunities, contact Lauren Golden at [email protected].
