Groundbreaking Event begins the construction of improved trail in the Northampton to North Catasauqua Trail Section.

On June 3, a groundbreaking event was held to celebrate the beginning of construction activities for 1.5 miles of improved trail through North Catasauqua and Northampton boroughs. This trail section will complete the D&L Trail in Northampton County and is a momentous progression in the D&L Trail’s Lehigh Valley Gap, which when complete will offer 14-miles of loop trail. This new construction connects North Catasauqua to the existing 55+ miles of D&L Trail running north to White Haven.

Thank you to project partners including North Catasauqua Borough, Northampton Borough, the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Northampton County, and the PA Department of Community and Economic Development.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Formally Opens the Middleburg Road Pedestrian Crossing

On August 27th, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to acknowledge the completion of the newly completed road and railroad pedestrian crossings at Middleburg Road along the D&L Trail in Luzerne County. This project included an improved pedestrian crossing over the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern’s main rail line, enhanced pedestrian road crossing across Middleburg Road, and about 500 feet of paved trail separate but parallel to Middleburg Road. The completion of this crossing provides a safe connection to 57 miles of continuous D&L Trail from Black Diamond Trailhead in Mountaintop, PA to Canal Street Park Trailhead in Northampton, PA.

Thank you to project partners including the PA Department of Transportation, PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the Reading Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad.
