Delaware & Lehigh - Get Your Tail on the Trail launches Trail of the Month
Share

Patrick Hunt, Program Coordinator

In July, Get Your Tail on the Trail announced the first “Trail of the Month.” This new program feature launched to incentivize the use and exploration of local trails. How does it work? Users who log miles on the featured trail are entered for a chance to win a monthly giveaway. Trail of the Month pushes users to get active outdoors, which has proven health benefits over regular physical activity, while more specifically encouraging trail usage.

Since Trail of the month was launched, featured trails have seen an increase in users over previous months. The first two featured trails were the D&L Trail and the Ironton Rail-Trail. Have a favorite trail you’d like to see featured? Let us know in the comments.

Get Your Tail on the Trail program participants can still log miles from anywhere, a local park, neighborhood sidewalks, on vacation, etc. A mile is a mile especially when the goal is simply to get active. However, it’s exciting to see the impact the program can have in connecting users to local trails and outdoor recreation.

If you’re up for the challenge, the 165 Mile Challenge for the D&L chapter and Northeast PA chapter is still underway. 1734 users are currently logging miles toward the challenge. Moreover, 708 users have already completed the challenge. Plus, many users are sharing their strides on the GYTOT Facebook page, making it a great place to get inspired for your next workout.

Since we’re dishing dirt, be the first to know that on October 26th Get Your Tail on the Trail will be hosting a Halloween themed, dog friendly event. This event will include a walk and dogs dressed up in Halloween costumes. To keep up with all events for both chapters visit our calendar, here.
