As a nonprofit organization, the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor relies on contributions from people like you. We could not do all that we do without generous individuals supporting our mission. We are incredibly grateful for our donors and members because every gift makes our work possible. There are many ways to give back to the D&L and  invest in trail maintenance and interpretation, educational programming, staff support, museum and boat enhancements, and health and wellness initiatives. Here are FIVE ways you can support to the D&L:

Donate

Any amount is appreciated. Plus, you can direct your gift toward the Area of Greatest Need, the Trail or the Museum, providing immediate, flexible funds to get things done. You can also donate to the trail in your area. Donations to the D&L Trail in Luzerne County were used to secure private foundation match in 2019, doubling the impact of those donors.

Become a member and gift memberships

A membership is a great way to support the D&L, as well. Whereas donations are directed, memberships provide foundational support for all D&L programs. Our members are a community of dynamic individuals. They understand the importance of our nationally significant heritage. Moreover, they advocate for a complete trail through our 5 counties. Membership comes with great benefits, in return! Members enjoy free admission to the National Canal Museum, which includes boat rides on the Josiah White II, discounts in the Museum Store and for all D&L events like our Half Marathon, special member events and communications. AmazonSmile

While gift shopping this holiday season, switch over to AmazonSmile. Select “Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor” as your supporting organization. This way, a portion of your purchase comes back to the D&L. To date, we have received more than $200 through AmazonSmile.

Workplace giving

Many local companies, including Air Products, Johnson & Johnson, and Mineral Technologies, offer matching gift programs, United Way campaigns, or Dollars for Doers. Contact your Human Resources department to learn more about how your company can match your generosity. Workplace giving accounts for $5 billion to charities each year.

Tribute gifts

Finally, you can use your donation to pay tribute to someone significant in your life. Each year, the D&L receives gifts in honor and in memory of individuals who made an impact on their community. Simply write “In honor of Name” or “In memory of Name” in the gift details and we will make sure to notify them and their families of your tribute.
