Volunteers working at Freemansburg

Where:

Freemansburg Canal Education Center – Park at Freemansburg Trailhead, 12 Monroe St. Freemansburg, PA 18017

When:

Saturday Sept. 30, 2017 9:00AM – 12:30PM

What:

The D&L Trail Tenders will partner with the Old Freemansburg Association to prepare the 2.5 acre Freemansburg Canal Education Center for three weeks of student field trips.  Each fall over 1,000 Bethlehem Area School District fourth-graders visit the site to learn history, science, and art related to local canal history.  Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks including:

  • cutting grass
  • cleaning out trash from the canal
  • improving the trail and walking path
  • erecting fencing and tents

Getting the site ready is a big job so please RSVP below and join the fun!

We’d also like you to know that help is needed at Freemansburg prior to Sept. 30. Old Freemansburg Association volunteers gather every Wednesday and Saturday morning from 8:30-11:30AM to cut grass, maintain the heirloom garden and do other chores. Get in touch with D&L Education Manager, Dennis Scholl, for more information. Dennis can be reached by email at [email protected] or call 610-92303548 ext 225 or 610-984-4753.
