An interactive and progressive dinner benefiting the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor

Join the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor staff and board on the evening of Thursday, May 16 for a progressive, interactive dinner, Canal Life by Candlelight, which showcases how we teach schoolchildren about STEM principles using canal life and industrial history. There will be interactive exhibits throughout the National Canal Museum grounds, food and beverage stations, a tented dinner, and a silent action. This annual event is one of our largest fundraisers and directly supports the mission of the D&L.

Proceeds from this event help us connect and interpret the D&L Trail, fund educational programs that teach our children appreciation for our regional heritage, and sustain the National Canal Museum and the Josiah White II, one of the last mule-drawn canal boat rides in America.

During cocktail hour, guests can watch a live blacksmith demonstration from Ed Land, pull the canal boat, dress in period clothing in front of historic backdrops, blow a conch shell, and learn to harness a mule. Guests will also be able to meet the famed mules who pull the Josiah White II, Hank and George.

Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and entertainment will be provided throughout the evening by Dave Matsinko, who plays traditional folk music with fine vocals, guitar, old-time banjo, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, and a wealth of traditional folk songs. Volunteers representing Bucks, Lehigh Valley, and Anthracite areas have sought items for the silent auction that are emblematic of their region. Tickets are $100 for non-members and $90 for members. Members will receive a code for online purchases.
