North Branch Land Trust is excited to announce for the first time it’s partnering with the new Northeast PA Chapter of Get Your Tail on the Trail and offering a hike around Crystal Lake Reservoir located in the Pinchot State Forest.

Get Your Tail on the Trail is a free community initiative created by St. Luke’s University Health Network and Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (D&L) to encourage healthy lifestyles through getting outside and getting active at close to home parks and trails. The Northeast PA Chapter is the very first Chapter of this award winning program and covers Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, and Wayne Counties.

NBLT volunteer hike leaders, Paula Fall and Brian Gettig, will take us on an approximate 4-mile easy to moderate hike around Crystal Lake in the Pinchot State Forest off of Laurel Run Road on Saturday, February 9, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The highlight of the hike will be at the midpoint when we will be able to take in the beautiful view of the reservoir. Paula and Brian will also showcase the improvements the State Forest is making for public access to the land.

Hikers are expected to be able to traverse roots, rocks, puddles, swampy sections, and hike a moderate incline. Sturdy waterproof boots and winter gear are recommended. Please arrive 15 minutes early for the hike begins promptly at 10:00 am. The hike will be cancelled if there is inclement weather.

No charge for NBLT members or non-members, but registration by 5 pm Thursday, February 7, is required. The participation limit is 40 attendees. Register today!
