Celebrate the new and improved DCNR Lehigh Gorge State Park entrance on the D&L Trail and Lehigh River!

In April, we were happy to congratulate DCNR when they announced the heavily anticipated reopening of the White Haven South Trailhead after almost two years. Now, we want to officially commemorate this event with many partners and the D&L Trail community.

DCNR History Walk & Talks – 10am | 11am | 1pm | 2pm

Join PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources environmental educators at10AM, 11AM, 1PM, and 2PM for a guided walk to the ruins of Lock 28. Discover some history of the Upper Grand Division of the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Co. and the engineering marvels integral to transporting coal to market in the early 19th century. Meet at the Lehigh Gorge State Park restroom area.

Pocono Biking Shuttle Services – 10am | 11am | 12pm

Pocono Biking will be offering Biking Shuttle services from the White Haven South Trailhead to the D&L Black Diamond Trailhead. The distance between the two Trailheads is 11 miles, making for an excellent ride along the D&L Trail. Reservations are required. To learn more, call Pocono Biking at 570-325-8430. Proceeds will benefit DLNHC.

Main Street Market | 9am – 3pm

Stop by the corner of Main Street and Northumberland Street for the White Haven Main Street Market! The Market will have a number of craft vendors, baked goods, prepared foods, and even some food trucks.

Licensed PA fishers are also welcome to stop by and enjoy the beautiful Lehigh River during White Haven’s 3rd Annual Fishing Derby. Participants can reel in a tagged “prize” fish, remove the tag, and then bring it to the White Haven Super Market for a cash prize. The Derby began April 1 and will last through September 5, 2023.

The Market and Fishing Derby are both sponsored by the Greater White Haven Chamber of Commerce.

Vendors outside Pocono Biking | 9am – 3pm

Learn about the Greater White Haven Chamber of Commerce, DCNR’s New Geocache Program, Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, and more. These vendors will be there throughout the day, ready to answer your questions.
