Every year we are reminded of how wonderful the DLNHC community is. The people that call our region home span generations, genders, races, religions, and so much more. Some have always been here, stewarding the land and celebrating community. Some settled in the Corridor early in this country’s history, growing roots that have become foundational to their towns. And some are recent arrivals, bringing with them new cultures and experiences.
There are truly so many people throughout our five-county Corridor contributing to their communities. It would be impossible to cover the full extent of these individuals, but we want to provide an opportunity to highlight and honor at least some of them.
This year we will be launching a campaign called Faces of the Corridor.
We want you to nominate a person, or even a group of people, who are out there making a positive impact in the Corridor. Every month throughout the year, we will highlight at least one individual or group nominated in a blog and across our social media.
There aren’t many rules or requirements for this, although you can find them below. We just hope that whoever you nominate is ready to share their story in a brief interview (and maybe pose for a few pictures)! Additionally, they must be involved with at least one of our core pillars – industrial heritage, economic development, health & wellness, or nature & the environment.
Our Faces of the Corridor campaign will also introduce a new quarterly feature Volunteer Highlights – a special blog post that is meant to celebrate those that help us tremendously by giving their time and talent. You can look forward to our first Highlight on January 26, 2023! Â
And don’t forget about our upcoming 2023 special exhibition, Coal Country Portraits, at the National Canal Museum. This exhibit is designed to share the experiences, hardships, and successes of those working in the mines of northeastern Pennsylvania through a unique display of photographs and art. Our team is already hard at work preparing this exhibit to share with you.
We hope that by the end of this year, we will have expanded the number of stories we can tell about the people who call our Corridor home – about the people who make us.
If you have any questions regarding eligibility for this campaign, you can reach out to [email protected].
