A Look Back at 2024
A year can be filled with so many special events and occasions that it can be hard to capture it all in just a few words. So this year, we went with some pictures. Take a look through the photo gallery below to see a snapshot of what the DLNHC team has been up to during 2024.

We kicked off the year with the Lehigh Valley Greenways annual retreat, an event that brings together local organizations to plan for future conservation projects.

Several speakers celebrated their achievements over that past year, DLNHC’s Brit Kondravy included!

Working sessions also took place to brainstorm various topics from outdoor recreation to accessibility.

February started off hot with the Get Your Tail on the Trail 30/30 Winter Challenge in Hugh Moore Park.

St. Luke’s University Health Network added to the event by offering fireside chats with chiropractic expert, Dr. Duffy!

DLNHC helped get ready for spring in March by hosting the first D&L Trail Tender event of the year with Lehigh Gorge State Park.

At the Museum, we were ready to celebrate the opening of our 2024 special exhibition, Putting Down Routes: From Native Trails to Interstates…

Hank and George’s return to the National Canal Museum…

…and the long awaited opening of the D&L Trail Morrisville Bridge section. April was a busy month!

And things only got busier in May when we welcomed hundreds of children to the Museum for Immersion Days field trips.

From friction and buoyancy to blowing a conch shell, these kids learned it all!

The fun didn’t stop in June when we co-hosted the Greenways Jamboree to celebration Lehigh Valley Greenways’ 20th anniversary and Northampton County’s 40th anniversary.

Pennsylvania Department of Conservation & Natural Resources’ Secretary, Cindy Adams Dunn, and Northampton County Executive, Lamont McClure, even stopped by to give a few remarks.

but two Lehigh Valley Greenways Mini-Grant awarded to help local conservation efforts.

In September, DLNHC held its first Bike & Brew…

…”spruced” up our offsite archive facilities with the help of United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley…

…and hosted the second annual Taste of the Corridor Event at the Crayola Experience in Easton!

We can’t forget – the Weissport to Jim Thorpe section of the D&L Trail re-opened after several months of construction on the canal overflows.

Does everybody remember the aurora borealis sighting in October?

The second annual St. Luke’s D&L RaceFest flew by the first part of November.

After all the hustle and bustle of St. Luke’s D&L RaceFest, a low-key event celebrating our 2024 special exhibition at the National Canal Museum helped us round out the month.

Just because it’s December doesn’t mean the fun ends. This month, we’ve already welcomed a new Trail Friendly Business – the George Taylor House.
