We connect people to nature and the environment through conservation and education.

Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (DLNHC) invites people to engage with nature and the environment, connecting children and adults to outdoor programs and environmental education. Through conservation partnerships, outdoor recreation opportunities, and environmental programs, DLNHC builds connections to our natural world and encourages individual and collective stewardship.

Lehigh Valley Greenways

As part of its environmental stewardship, the DLNHC is the local lead organization for Lehigh Valley Greenways Conservation Landscape, a state-sponsored regional conservation partnership that brings together public and private stakeholders in an effort to link communities with greenways, trails, and outdoor resources. Lehigh Valley Greenways (LVG) partnership is one of eight Conservation Landscapes in Pennsylvania designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to create these sorts of public-private partnerships.

Trail Tenders

The D&L Trail Tenders program is comprised of local residents and volunteers who want to help preserve and sustain recreation and historic resources of the D&L Trail for everyone to enjoy. For over 15 years, people just like you have volunteered to help maintain the trail, plant, clean historic structures, and improve amenities for trail users. Thousands of people have volunteered time along the trail from Wilkes-Barre to Bristol, resulting in a cleaner environment, increased quality of life, preserved history, and better trails. DLNHC provides support to municipalities, businesses, and volunteers to organize and hold local events. Using a Data Driven Sustainability Strategy, we are creating a GIS database of projects to improve trail management.

Trail Patrol

The D&L Trail Patrol volunteer program equips individuals to help keep the D&L Trail safe for thousands of trail users. These volunteers report on trail condition, obstructions, and other issues along their patrol visits. Equipped with resources from DLNHC, these individuals additionally commit to educate trail users and share maps and other resources on the trail and online.
