Delaware & Lehigh - A Quick Visit to Lock Ridge Furnace Park
Share

Written By Silas Chamberlin

This week I had the opportunity to drive out to Lock Ridge Furnace Park in Alburtis, Lehigh County.  My mission was to come up with a signage plan for the park, but I couldn’t resist snapping pictures of the awesome paved paths, trout stream, fall foliage, and–of course–the historic iron furnace.  I have lived in Lehigh County for five years, and this was my first trip to the park.   The Lehigh County Parks Department does a great job of maintaining the grounds and keeping the site in good shape, although the furnace has some serious structural issues.  If you are looking for a new place to walk or want to see a truly unique historic site, a drive out to Lock Ridge is certainly worth your time.
