The newly formed D&L Trail Patrol will hold its first meeting and training sessions on Saturday, March 5 in Easton’s Hugh Moore Park. The meeting will take place in the ground floor of the Emrick Technology Center, from 8:30-12:30, with lunch to follow.

Members of the trail patrol will regularly walk or bike the D&L Trail, offer information to fellow trail users, provide basic first-aid items and emergency contact information when the need arises, assist with basic bike repairs, and send periodic trail condition reports to D&L staff members.  The program will be very flexible, and patrol members can choose which services they feel comfortable providing.  The best candidates for the patrol are the people who already regularly walk or bike their local section of the trail and want to help improve the experience for others.  We simply want to formalize activities that trail users are already performing and provide them with the training and equipment necessary to be more effective.

The March 5 meeting will include training sessions on basic first aid, interpreting the history of the trail, filing trail reports, and–for our cyclists–basic bike repair.  At the meeting, patrol members will also receive their official trail patrol vests.   Please RSVP to [email protected], if you are interested in attending.
