The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities year-round, indoors or out.
Right now, we are searching for volunteers for the 2016 D&L Heritage Half Marathon. We expect a record turn out of 1,000 runners and walkers for this annual event. To volunteer, please check out our online sign up form and choose a task that works best for you.
You can get a little dirty cleaning up your favorite section of trail with the Trail Tenders, help keep an eye out for obstructions or weather damage as a Trail Patroller, hand out water or runner’s packets during the D&L Half Marathon, or spend a Saturday on the Trail hosting one of our Pop Up Visitor’s Centers.
The National Canal Museum, a Smithsonian Affiliate, depends on volunteers to staff the museum and education programs. Immersion Days and the Freemansburg Canal Education Center provide engaging field trips for local fourth grade students in the spring and fall.
Work behind the scenes as an administration or fundraising volunteer. Our annual Dinner Auction is a big event that takes a lot of planning. If you enjoy spending time with a tight knit group working to coordinate and host a fantastic fundraiser, please consider signing up. If you prefer to work alone or in smaller groups, our archives is a fun and fascinating place to spend a few hours.
Please consider giving back to the D&L with the donation of your time, it is as valuable to us as it is to you!
To start volunteering, please contact, Terri Monserrat, Communications & Education Coordinator at [email protected] or (610) 923 – 3548 x224.
