Saturday June 1 was this year’s National Trails Day. Started by the American Hiking Society, National Trails Day (NTD) celebrates any muscle-powered activity on trails the first Saturday of June. Here at the D&L it’s a great reason to get out and celebrate the amazing D&L Trail that acts as the spine of our National Heritage Area. This year we were in all five counties and got to see many people out enjoying the D&L Trail.

Freemansburg – At the Freemansburg Canal Education Center, it was one of the busiest days we have ever seen with lots of bikers on the trail.

Hugh Moore Park – The home base for the D&L was a hub of activity. With opening day of the National Canal Museum and lots of trails users it was a busy place to be.

Sand Island Trailhead – We celebrated the launch of the new website for THE LINK. It is a great resource for Lehigh Valley trails.

Riegelsville Bike Ride- A group of riders had a beautiful 17-mile ride in Delaware Canal State Park along the canal from Riegelsville to Lodi. Afterwards they went to Mueller’s, a great D&L Trail Friendly restaurant.
