The first Saturday of June – June 7, 2025 – is National Trails Day, an event hosted every year to celebrate the wonderful natural resources we have right in our backyards. DLNHC has made it a tradition to join in the festivities by visiting various locations along the D&L Trail to say “Hi” to our trail users, provide information about the organization, and sometimes even provide water or snacks. Many Trail Friendly Businesses will also be offering special National Trails Day deals.

LUZERNE COUNTY:
White Haven Trout Festival along D&L Trail in White Haven (Mile 130) – Celebrate the Lehigh River, trout fisheries, and the great outdoors in White Haven this National Trails Day. Stop by the White Haven Trout Festival from 11am – 4pm and say “Hi” to DLNHC staff and volunteers. DLNHC will have a table set up to share information about the D&L Trail, provide DLNHC membership information, point out key organizational programs, sell merchandise, and hand out some giveaway items!

Moosehead Lake Hootenanny in Luzerne County – Join us for a morning of music, nature, and trail camaraderie from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Moosehead Lake (MM 136) on the D&L Trail. This is a “hike in, hike out” event, featuring the folk-rock band The Pickups, performing canal- and river-inspired music. Trail-goers are invited to hike or bike to the event, enjoy live music, and meet DLNHC representatives. Free trail snacks such as granola and fresh water will be available during the rest break.
Guests are encouraged to begin their journey at the White Haven Community Library, where DLNHC will also have a table at the White Haven Trout Festival. The library is a short walk from the White Haven North Trailhead (MM 130.5), where attendees can bike or hike 5.5 miles to Moosehead Lake (MM 136). Alternatively, guests can start at the Black Diamond Trailhead (MM 140) and hike or bike 4.78 miles south to the lake.
For those unable to complete the full round-trip, local public access points—such as the Middleburg Road Access Area (MM 132) or the State Game Lands off Tunnel Road—offer convenient alternatives.

CARBON COUNTY:
Rockport Trailhead (Mile 120.9) – Stop by our table at the Rockport D&L Trailhead between 10am – 2pm to meet our staff and volunteers, pick up trail maps, purchase merch, fill your water bottle and grab a snack!

LEHIGH COUNTY:
Lehigh Valley Children’s Festival (future D&L Trail – West Bank Rail Trail) – Join us at the 12th Annual Lehigh Valley Children’s Festival between 1pm – 5pm, hosted by the Puertorrican Culture Preservation Inc. The Valley’s most anticipated summer kick-off event for children is here with the theme “Let the Summer Fun Begin!” and provides a safe and fun-filled day for children and their families with games, drawing contests, free bike raffles and toys.

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY:
Easton Farmers Market (across the river from Mile 58.9) – Visit our table at the Easton Farmers Market in Scott Park between 9am – 1pm! 2025 marks the 273rd season for this outdoor market at the confluence of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers. We’ll have information on all of our programs including the D&L Trail and LINK Trail Network. Stop by to fill up your water bottle, get a snack, and learn more about DLNHC.

National Canal Museum, D&L Trail Spur (near Mile 61) – The Museum will be open to welcome new and returning guests. Come take a look at our newest exhibition and discover Hugh Moore Park, the D&L Trail and Hugh Moore Park Trail Spur and the beautiful Lehigh River Trail! DLNHC will have a table set up to share information about the D&L Trail, provide DLNHC membership information, point out key organizational programs, sell merchandise, and hand out some giveaway items!

BUCKS COUNTY:
Bristol Warf (near Mile 0) – Pop by our table at the Bristol Warf between 9am – 1pm to learn more about DLNHC, our programs, fill your water bottle and grab some D&L Trail Mix! We’ll be just a tad north of the Southern Terminus of the Delaware Canal and D&L Trail to celebrate this years National Trails Day and the people that make our trails possible.
