The D&L and The DaVinci Center are partnering up to take part in Remake Learning, an event held during the month of May across the country.
Join us at Sand Island in Bethlehem on Sunday, May 22nd at 10 am, rain date, Monday May 23rd at 6 pm. We will meet at the Sand Island Playground (near The Ice House) and walk 1 mile on the canal path toward Allentown. A DaVinci educator will lead us in using a smartphone app to locate and identify certain plants and bugs, scavenger hunt style. An educator from D&L will explain how the lock system at Sand Island worked and discuss the fascinating history of why and when the canal was built.
This program is appropriate for elementary age children and their families, bug catchers, bug magnifiers, historic pictures, a conch shell, and a hunk of coal will be on hand to add to the fun! At the end of our 1 mile walk, which will take about 90 minutes, the program will conclude and families can choose to continue walking down the path, stop to have a picnic lunch or snack, or turn around and head back to the parking lot.
The cost of this program is $10 per family and we are limiting this walk to 30 people. You must register by 5 pm on May 20th to be able to attend. Once you have registered we will send a follow up email to you with information and reminders.
