The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor is again leading the planning for the biennial Eastern PA Greenways & Trails Summit, to be held this September. The Summit will provide two days of inspiring speakers, mobile workshops and breakout sessions on greenways and trails topics including universally accessible trails, art along greenways, public health connections, communities/businesses/colleges attaining bike friendly recognition, and trail marketing.
Charles “Chuck” Flink, one of the nation’s leading greenway planners, will be the keynote speaker. A Senior Advisor in the Durham, NC office of Alta Planning & Design, he has completed greenway, trail and open space plans for over 225 US communities, including a Lehigh Valley city, and has done consulting work around the world.
The summit’s social events include a bike ride along the D&L Trail, dinner at the National Canal Museum, and plenty of time for networking, music and celebration for the greenways and trails community. Mobile workshops will present local projects that highlight best management practices, success stories and new initiatives undertaken since 2014’s Summit.
The Summit will be held September 14-15 at ArtsQuest Event Center, Bethlehem, PA. Registration opens in July on delawareandlehigh.org.
