The 2022 Get Your Tail on the Trail 165-mile Challenge ends in a little less than 2 months! You have until November 7, the day after the D&L Heritage Half Marathon Run/Walk, to log those miles and complete the free challenge.
Don’t forget, while you’re working on your 165-mile Challenge miles, you can also be logging for the D&L Trail Challenge. The D&L Trail Challenge runs throughout the month of October and tests participants to complete four cumulative half-marathons (four full marathons if you’re a cyclist). In conjunction with the D&L Heritage Half Marathon Run/Walk, the D&L Trail Challenge functions as the biggest fundraiser for the DLNHC, the D&L Trail, and our various programs. Miles run, walked, rolled, or biked can be logged for both challenges, so don’t fret. Completing this challenge to support the #DLNHC can help you earn incentives from the Tail on the Trail 165-mile Challenge!
But just because both challenges come to a close in November, doesn’t mean that you need to stop logging miles. There are plenty of events to attend, new badges are always being added, and coming up fast is the 2023 Winter Challenge. Keep up the great work getting up and out!
As the new lead at the DLNHC for Get Your Tail on the Trail, it has been wonderful to hear so many people sharing their stories of their time both on and off the trail. It is amazing to think that together we have covered over 4 million miles! As you know, the completion of a challenge brings incentives other than improved health. Over 815 participants completed last year’s winter challenge and received a “dry bag” to keep their items safe when hiking in the rain and snow, or while paddling on the water.
If you don’t follow us on social media, please do! Feel free to tag us @tailonthetrail on Facebook, @dl_tailonthetrail on Instagram, or @DLNHC on Twitter to share your health and wellness journey! We love hearing from trail users and often ask for input on upcoming incentives, photos of the trail, and your favorite places to log. Keep an eye out for some new social media contests and prizes in the coming months.
There are some great GYTOT approved events this fall to help you achieve your mileage goal. Support our NEPA chapter at Chalkfest on October 1, visit Bowmanstown for the BARC Dog Walk and Dog show also on October 1, and check our public calendar for Recovery Walks, 5k’s, and more.
If you haven’t signed up for Get Your Tail on the Trail, visit the website at https://tailonthetrail.org/ to join. We’ve recently added some instructional videos to help you get the best experience out of the site. Don’t forget that you can sign up as an organization, too. If you are looking to lead a friendly competition with your colleagues, sports team, or other organization, reach out and let us know!
Enjoy your time outdoors in the fall, crisp air, trekking your way through those miles!
