Delaware & Lehigh - Journey Through the D&L: Shop Local This Holiday Season
Share
Firehouse Cycles in Yardley, Pa.

As the black and orange decorations give way to reds and greens, blues and whites, we know that the holidays are just around the corner. Amidst all the hubbub, the DLNHC wants to encourage everyone to show love to our local businesses by shopping local and shopping small.

Just along the D&L Trail there are almost 30 Trail Friendly Businesses!

Trail Friendly Businesses are local businesses that provide great customer support and cater to the needs of runners, hikers, bikers, and visitors of the D&L Trail. If you use the D&L Trail or are just looking to get out and explore more within the National Heritage Corridor, then there’s a shop for you!

Easton Outdoor Company, another outdoor apparel recreation retailer.

Do you love going out and experiencing nature, no matter the weather? Or do you know someone that’s an outdoor enthusiast? Check out Firehouse Cycles in Yardley, Saucon Valley Bikes in Hellertown, Aardvark Sports Shop in Bethlehem, Lehighton Outdoor Center in (you guessed it) Lehighton, or Pocono Biking in Jim Thorpe! Each business offers a variety of gear perfect for the changing seasons. Some even offer bike tours, training services, and other seasonal outdoor adventure activities like rafting and kayaking.

What about general stores? Antique shops? Right across from the D&L Trail in Slatington is A.F. Boyer Hardware & Guns – the longest-running family-owned hardware store in America! Whether it’s a small or large project, A.F. Boyer will have the tools you need. Additionally, if you’re fixing up the house and looking for some new decorations, then visit Beautiful Hidden Treasures! With vintage, primitive, and even farmhouse décor, they’ve got it all. It’s a perfect place to visit when putting those final touches on a project.

Homestead General Store and Coffee Roasters

We can’t forget to mention all the amazing food shops along the way. From Homestead General Store and Coffee Roasters in Bucks County to Tavern on the Trail in White Haven; sweets and treats to pizza and chicken; there’s even Easton Public Market that has it all.

If this wasn’t enough to get you excited about the vibrant businesses within our local communities, we’re going to make it even better. The Saturday after Thanksgiving is #SmallBusinessSaturday, a day to show appreciation for the small businesses in your local communities. To celebrate, the DLNHC will be holding a giveaway!

#SmallBusinessSaturday Giveaway!

On November 26, we want to encourage you, your family, and friends to stop by your favorite Trail Friendly Business (or visit a new one!), take a picture, and post it on either Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. The first 25 people to post throughout the day will get a free D&L Trail Guide. One step further, if you tell us why you chose the Trail Friendly Business you visited, you’ll get a chance to earn a $20 gift card to that specific shop!

Remember, you need to use these specific tags for us to be able to see your entry:

Instagram & Twitter: @DLNHC #SmallBusinessSaturday #TrailFriendlyBusiness

Some of our Trail Friendly Businesses will even be offering Small Business Saturday-specific deals. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get some holiday shopping done and support our local businesses!
