To mitigate the increasing spread of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania, we have closed the National Canal Museum and offices of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. Our staff continues our mission-driven work from home. We hope you and yours will stay safe and healthy. Happy Trails!×
This is a historic event that the D&L has worked for over 25 years to help accomplish. Please RSVP to Carbon County by June 8th if you plan on attending the dedication ceremony at 9:15 a.m. The bridge and D&L Trail will be open for the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy Sojourn and all public use from after the dedication ceremony until 2 p.m. on June 11.
PLEASE NOTE: The bridge will be barricaded and locked promptly at 2 p.m. Please be aware of the closure time if you plan on using the bridge.
This is the dedication and celebration for the completion of the bridge, but the Lock 1 retaining wall and trail project on the east side of the Lehigh River is not complete. Thus after the dedication ceremony on June 11, the trail obstruction will still be in place and the bridge will be closed to public use until further notice.
