In commemoration of this milestone, we have developed a new opportunity within the program, Health & Heritage Walks. From April through November, we offer two walks (occasionally a bike ride) a month. These walks are free, fun, social, and educational.
The first walks each month are our heritage walks held at Hugh Moore Park by DLNHC staff. They focus on the history of the canal and industrial corridor that ran through Easton. These walks occur on the first Sunday of every month at 1 PM and travel about 1 mile beginning at the National Canal Museum.
The second monthly walk is held up and down the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor at various locations with a diverse set of themes. Every walk is at least 1 mile in length and at least 1 hour in duration, they vary in topic and terrain.
While we encourage you to be a Get Your Tail on the Trail participant that logs your miles on tailonthetrail.com, you don’t have to be to join these walks. Group hikes can be a fun and invigorating way to add variety to your normal workout routine. Event sign-ups are required for these walks and we cap the group at 30 participants to provide the best experience for all.
All our hikes are led by DLNHC staff or partners that are well versed in their chosen topics. These hikes are meant to get the blood pumping and the brain working. It might even expose you to new areas that you have yet to explore.
To check out upcoming walks, please head over to the Get Your Tail on the Trail website to see what upcoming walks interest you. You can also find information by going to the DNLHC website.
