Dreams come in all shapes and sizes. But one thing is for certain: pursuing a dream and making it happen is magical. Mark and Grace, the owners and operators of Lizard Creek Campground, are a testimony to dreams in action. After getting married and leaving their corporate jobs, they set out with a desire to establish a campground that would be welcoming to families, close to an array out outdoor activities, and accessible to all different types of campers.

In 2015, Mark and Grace took over an old space. Since then, they have spent the last 5 years upgrading the facilities of Lizard Creek Campground. They have created more camp sites, replacing septic lines, installing WIFI, etc. This, along with their welcoming nature and knowledge of the area, brings in many visitors for weekend and weeklong stays.

“I want to have a place that can fit everyone’s camping needs, ” said Mark. “We have tent camping and RV hook-ups as well as safari tents, rentable RV’s, and full-service climate-controlled cabins.”

The staff at Lizard Creek Campground happily help first time campers settle in. Moreover, they have camping gear available to rent, especially for light packing long-distance bikers of the D&L trail.

The campground, located just outside of Lehighton, runs along the Lizard Creek, offering a refuge from the hot summer days. The campground is just minutes away from the D&L Trail and the Appalachian Trail. Additionally, it’s conveniently located for fishing and white-water rafting – providing tons of options of outdoor activities. Mark and Grace also bring in local environmentalists throughout the season for family friendly activities to learn about the importance of different animals to the ecosystem, how to measure water quality, and much more. And when all the dust of the day settles, it is a quiet place to sit by a fire and connect with friends and family.

The campground is open from the beginning of April until October 31st. While they are mostly booked for the rest of the year, check for available dates. Plus, keep it in mind for next year when thinking about a weekend or vacation trip!
