Hi! Dennis Scholl here. I’m in charge of recruiting volunteers for the D&L Trail Tenders. The Tenders are responsible for maintaining more than 100 miles of the D&L Trail in five counties: Bucks, Northampton, Lehigh, Carbon and Luzerne. It’s an enormous area to cover, so we’ve split the region into four chapters to give people a better opportunity to work in their “own backyard.” We have active chapters in the Lehigh Valley, Northern Lehigh County, Carbon County and Lehigh Gorge State Park.
We need more than volunteers, however. We need leaders who are able to organize cleanups and work with local municipalities. To help develop these leaders, we’ve arranged a full day of training at the Ice House on Sand Island in Bethlehem on May 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
You can learn more about it by contacting our office in Easton by e-mail or telephone. E-mail inquiries should be directed to dennis@delawareandlehigh.org. Or, give me a call at 610-923-3548, ext. 25. We’d love to have you spend the day with us.
The Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor is more than trails and landmarks—it’s a living landscape where history, culture, and community come together.
These treasures can’t protect themselves. As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, your year-end gift will help us safeguard this remarkable region and create new opportunities for connection and discovery.
