National Trails Day

The first Saturday of June is National Trails Day, an event held every year to celebrate the wonderful natural resources we have right in our backyards. DLNHC has made it a tradition to join in the festivities by visiting various locations along the D&L Trail to say “Hi” to our trail users, provide information about the organization, and sometimes even provide water or snacks. Several Trail Friendly Businesses will also be offering special National Trails Day deals.

This year you can find us at the locations below:

White Haven Trout Festival along D&L Trail in White Haven (Mile 130) – Celebrate the Lehigh River, trout fisheries, and the great outdoors in White Haven this National Trails Day. Stop by the White Haven Trout Festival from 11am – 4pm and say “Hi” to DLNHC staff, Brit K and Gianna. DLNHC will have a table set up to share information about the D&L Trail, key organizational programs, and hand out some giveaway items! 

Lehigh Gorge State Park, Rockport D&L Trailhead (Mile 121)  – Stop by from 9am – 1 pm to see Alice and Tiffany at the Rockport D&L Trailhead! They will have a table set up to provide trail users with information about the D&L Trail, The National Canal Museum, and our historic connection to the region. They will also have select items available for purchase!

Slatington D&L Trailhead (Mile 92) – DLNHC will be set up at the turnaround point for the St. Luke’s Hospice Ride to provide information and water from 10am – 2pm. Learn about DLNHC and all our programs by chatting with Tim and Patricia.

Route 33 Boat Launch D&L Trailhead (Mile 64) – Refill your water bottles or grab some trail mix! Loretta and Britt MV will have a table set up with information and trail maps to share with trail users from 9am – 1pm. 

National Canal Museum, D&L Trail Spur (near Mile 61) – The Museum will be open for business as usual. Come take a look at our newest exhibition and travel around the park while you’re at it. Marie and Martha will be available to assist you with all your museum musings.

D&L Trail across from Mueller’s General Store (Mile 51) – DLNHC will have a table set up across one of our Trail Friendly Businesses to provide information and maps to visitors. Salena and Aurelia will be staffing this location.

For Current DLNHC Members: Bike & Brew in Bucks

Join Liz and Claire for a Bike & Brew in Bucks County. This special member event will take you on a twelve mile bike ride along the D&L Trail in Delaware Canal State Park. Along the way, you will stop at three D&L Trail Friendly Businesses – Bitchin’ Kitten, Ashlynn Distillery, and The Vault. DLNHC will be providing one drink voucher for all participants. This event caps at 20 people.
