The Lehigh Canal will come alive with some of the region’s best music this summer with the launch of the National Canal Museum’s new canal cruise series, “Jams on the Josiah.” The monthly series will kick off Friday, July 6, with a performance by Lehigh Valley Music Award nominated-singer-songwriter Leah Marie Fuls.

Building the D&L Trail is like a huge, very complicated jigsaw puzzle. Think about it for a moment… we are re-connecting a 190 year old transportation system that has been disturbed by railroads, highways, modern municipal services, multiple landowners and (sometimes) neglect.

From improving people’s health to preserving history to protecting the environment to energizing local economies, trails are critical infrastructure that improve a local community’s quality of life. But for these benefits to blossom to their fullest potential, their needs to be more than just a trail.

Get Your Tail on the Trail’s fifth anniversary year continues to be exciting! We launched an app for Android phones, helped celebrate a new dog park with a dog walk event, and we’re joining State Senator John Yudichak for multiple events while he completes 165 miles for his “Senator Takes a Hike” pledge.

Roughly a year ago I wrote about the trials and tribulations of trail development in the Lehigh Valley. Those projects, currently eight if you are counting, are predominantly in Lehigh County and some in Northampton County. Since it’s been a while, I thought I’d update everyone on our progress in the last year.

Students from throughout the region are learning about what life was more than 175 years ago.

Now that spring has finally arrived, consider helping the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor get ready for Founder’s Day, as well as the 2018 canal boat and National Canal Museum season.

On a warm, mid-March afternoon, Hugh and his daughter, Kathleen, decided to visit the building in hopes of finding out more about their familial ties to Easton. Their journey, 10 years in the making, unfurled a tapestry of cross-continent connections to the D&L.
