Lend us a hand! There are lots of ways you can help.

Volunteers are the strength of Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (DLNHC), doing everything from maintaining the D&L Trail to greeting visitors at the National Canal Museum. Volunteers help us define our community-based mission while allowing them to showcase their talents.  Our dedicated volunteers are an essential part in the DLNHC accomplishments and completion of projects to preserve our local history, which would otherwise not be possible.

Join us in making the D&L WineFest in Bucks County a memorable experience for our guests while supporting the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor! Volunteers play a vital role in the event’s success, assisting with activities such as guest check-in, event support, vendor assistance, and more.

2026 D&L RaceFest Marathon & Half Marathon

Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15

Volunteer registration is open for the D&L RaceFest presented by St. Luke’s University Health Network. There are many ways to be a part of the race. Go behind the scenes on race day to motivate and help our racers cross the finish line. Our volunteers are there every step of the way, support athletes before, during, and after their journey to Easton, PA.

Volunteer Opportunities

• DLNHC Ambassadors: Our ambassadors are an extension of our DLNHC team who can lead projects, speak out in the community about our mission, answer questions, and help us enhance and protect the treasures of the D&L Trail and the Corridor region.
• Museum Docents & Gift Shop Help: The National Canal Museum is seeking friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help out in a variety of positions. Volunteers can become museum docents, greeters, gift shop clerks, interpreters at the locktender’s house, and/or program assistants for children’s activities at the museum.
• Trail Tenders: Participate in keeping the over 165-mile D&L Trail clean and clear. Volunteers maintain the D&L Trail through litter clean-ups, brush and branch removal, and other trail activities through public events April through November.
• Trail Patrol: Participate in keeping the over 165-mile D&L Trail safe. Volunteers serve as the “eyes and ears” of the trail. Volunteers patrol the trail on bicycle or by foot at least twice a month April through October in all five counties, answering visitors’ questions and reporting back about fallen trees, erosion, and trail maintenance issues.
• Field Trip Educators: DLNHC is seeking friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to help out during a variety of field trips and summer programs as educators. These volunteers help us provide positive, personalized, and memorable experiences to museum visitors.
• Facilities & Maintenance: These volunteers will join an existing group of dedicated workers to help with upkeep of our building, grounds, and the Josiah White II canal boat.
• Office & Archives: Office volunteers provide high level assistance to staff members based on their personal skills and interests. DLNHC has had volunteers work on everything from archive assistance to grant writing, photography, and more.
• Gardeners:  The National Canal Museum is seeking volunteers with green thumbs to help plant and maintain gardens and planters around the museum in Easton (April-October).  Hours are flexible based on the volunteers’ availability. All tools and materials are provided.
