Trail Section: Lehigh Gap – Slatington

Status: Complete, open and improved

Distance: 1.9

This section connects trailheads at Lehigh Gap and Slatington. At the northern trailhead, the Appalachian Trail intersects the D&L Trail, providing additional hiking opportunities. In Slatington, visit the local pizza joint, buy drinks and snacks, and take a side trip up the Slate Heritage Trail along Trout Creek. When the Slatington Trailhead parking lot is full, it is easy to make the short drive across the bridge to Walnutport and park at the Walnutport Canal Association parking lot. The Lehigh Gap Trailhead is also near a Lehigh River Water Trail access point called Lehigh Gap. Please refer to Wildlands Conservancy’s Lehigh River Water Trail website for more information on trips along the water trail.
